Learn How it Began

2020

In 2020, Covid-19 brought the world to a halt. Everything was at a standstill. With no work and ample time to spare, I once again dived into the world of art. Starting out with watercolor paintings and then slowly but surely, I started taking on new challenges and started learning new techniques. It was this unexpected pause in our busy, non-stop chaotic lives that gave birth to my business, Greetings by Hand. I have a lot more to learn and share. However, with the support from my loved ones and the local community, I am ready to dive into this new era.

1999

Coming from a middle-class family from the subcontinent, Medicine and Engineering were deemed as the most respectable occupations for me. I grew up studying science and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. Art was a fun outlet for me while growing up. However, in 1999 when I moved to United States of America I was formally introduced to art as a student at Reading Area Community College. I was required to take art electives which I really enjoyed. I started working with different materials and enjoyed creating charcoal drawings and implemented my love for art at home. My Home was my blank canvas, and it provided a gateway for me to bring my creative ideas into play.

2006

With new responsibilities as a mother and with growing family, art was put on a back burner for me. I immersed myself in my children’s upbringing and stumbled upon teaching as a profession. Teaching provided a gateway for me to use my love for art and creativity in educating my students. All the lessons were an opportunity for me to try new techniques and make unique and one-of-a-kind projects with my students that they could cherish for life.
